Immature
Brown Jack
When
Little Greek was born, I just kept thinking how strong he was, but
so small. He reminded me of an old karate friend named Demetrius
Havannas, who was a very fierce and talented fighter, but very small.
So, I ended up naming him after my friend, "The Greek", and eventually
began calling him Little Greek. He still lives up to his namesake.
This super little jack is not only very small, 30" at 2½ years of
age, but just look how athletic he is. Very impressive little guy.
He is extremely well put together, and not only gorgeous to look at
but an absolute sweetheart to be around. We began breeding Little
Greek a year ago and have already had our first foal, Demetrius, by him. Demetrius
is every bit the spitting image of his sire when
he was born. Perfect in every way.
Little Greek didn't have a long show career, but he did win First
Place Foals at his very first show, The 2007 Texas State Championship,
and he had just turned six months old the day before the show! He also
went on to win Reserve Junior Champion, behind our own Full Moon.
Pretty impressive for a guy was was barely even old enough to show.
More important is the roll he plays in our breeding program. Little
Greek is what we call a 1/2 red. He has been tested positive for the
red gene, and will produce 50% red foals, when bred to red jennets.
Having searched many years for an outstanding red herdsire to round
out our red breeding program, we are thrilled to finally have one who
fits the bill. Click here to see
Little Greek's complete pedigree.

30½" Smoky
Black Jack
<
I have been in love with this jack since
he was born, and really never wanted to let him go. He is just so perfect! His
personality is so loving, it's hard to believe he is a jack, but in the breeding
pen....well, he's all man!
As a yearling we sold him to John and
Susan Baker of Small Pleasures Farm, and when they went out of business, we
brought him back home. I had planned to breed him to a few girls and maybe keep
him, but then we got a big surprise....an e-mail from Jill Coussens of Timberlane
Acres. She said she had been admiring him since he was a foal, and I never even
knew! Well, she just had to have him, and we felt confident she would do him
justice in her select breeding program...so, he now has a new home....again.
Selling him twice was extra hard, but we are so pleased he is going to be treasured.
In the meantime, I've bred as many girls as I could to him, so we plan to have
a few Galaxy foals around here, starting with his daughter "Galaxia" born
this year.

31½" Red Jack
<
Crimson
Tide was one of the most spectacular foals born on this farm, and
he continues to amaze us. He is red, but was clipped in February,
so his color had not come back in yet in the photo above as a yearling,
but that didn't stop him from winning!
Crimson Tide has been
noticed and appreciated everywhere we have taken him for his great
conformation, and his overall beauty. He has a very distinctive
cross, very bold and wide, and an upright presence about him that
can't be overlooked. He was a dream to show, and has a wonderful
personality. He is also a full brother to October
Rising Son and Red
Dragon (see more below).
We look forward to seeing many great foals sired by
him. Thanks to Kenny and Missi Webb of Little Rascals Miniature
Donkeys for purchasing this outstanding
young man.

We are pleased to announce that Brave Heart will be going to a new home in Tennessee. He will be added to Wee Ones Farm as a herdsire for their spotted breeding program. We think they have made a very good choice, but he will surely be missed around here. Congratulations L.J. and Deb!
We have several jennets bred to Brave Heart.
Brave Heart began his show career by winning Reserve Junior Champion at the ADMS
National Show. He also won 2nd place behind his brother, Crimson
Tide, (see more above) at the
San Antonio show in '07, in a very large class.

By the way, he is a maternal 1/2 brother to Li'l

Black
Diamond stole my heart the minute he was born. His perfect legs
and extremely correct conformation made it very tempting to keep
him around, but we were very proud to place him in a prominant breeding
program in England. His new owners, Hugh and Isobel McGuinness of
Cashal Stud are very proud of him and plan to show him.

Red Jack

This young man
was one of the first red foals born on our farm, and we really hated to let him
go. But I knew he would be in very good hands with Lynn Podesta, of L Bar L
Ranch, and I was not wrong. Not only does she adore him, she has shown him
successfully, winning many championships, including NMDA National Reserve
Champion Jack. He is a gorgeous jack, and has the very sweet disposition of both
his sire and dam. We really missed him when he left. Lynn is now driving him and
showing him in all the performance classes. I'm so proud of them both!

Footloose
has been sold to Julie Boyce, of Gorcott Miniatures in England. It
was not easy to part with this very special young man. He was one
of the most perfect foals I've ever seen and he continues to amaze
us. He has had a spectacular show career, beginning here at the 2007
State Fair as a weanling, winning 1st Place, and Reserve Junior Champion
at six months of age. Then he went on to England to win many championships
and year end awards. Congratulations Julie and Footloose.
Footloose has begun breeding in England now, and we look forward to seeing many great foals by him. Julie calls him "poppet". I think that means, "perfect".

Mostly White Jack

I never was particularly fond of white donkeys until Casper was born. I just fell in love, and he never dissappointed me in any way. Very sweet natured, and just gorgeous to look at. We sent him to Lynn Podesta of L Bar L Ranch as a yearling, and she has done a great job of showing him, earning several top Halter Championships. He will always be a winner in my heart, but it's nice to see others feel the same. We hope to see many great foals out of Casper.

32¾" Dark Brown Jack

What can I say about
this beautiful boy...I just love him! He is just as sweet as a
jack can be and wonderful to be around. Most importantly, though,
he is just gorgeous with great conformation. At one year of age he
was already built like a mature jack, and just look at him now!
Parker sports an impressive pedigree with names like Little
Motown, Valintino 50, LN Nehi and
Jennie Sam of Bell E Acres.
We have been watching this boy with great care hoping he would be
a strong addition to our breeding program, and he just gets better
every day. As it turns out, the Bakers could not resist adding him
to their breeding program. John and Susan Baker of Small Pleasures
Farm have purchased Parker.
Parker won 1st Place
yearling jacks at his first show, the Texas State Fair and Jr.
Champion Miniature Donkey. He went on to place 3rd at the NMDA
show in Shelbyville in 2006, and 3rd at the NMDA Texas State Championship
Show in 2006.

30½"
Red Jack
<
One of the hardest things we have done on this farm was to watch this
guy leave. He was so much a part of our family. Having retained nine
daughters, and having downsized my herd, there just weren't any girls
left to breed him to!
Red October has been an extraordinary producer, and an extremely
popular little man. He has 5 sons in significant breeding programs,
but produced mostly girls. We have retained the following jennets,
sired by him, for our breeding program:
Li'l Angels Bethany
Li'l Angels Heaven Sent
Li'l Angels Rhoda
Li'l Angels Ruby Slippers
Li'l Angels Symphony
Li'l Angels Easter Frost
Li'l Angels Fancy Me
Li'l Angels Katie Scarlett
Li'l Angels Cream Tangerine
And we are hoping for one more girl...Chanel is due in September, and
that will be his last foal here.
I think it's pretty special that he has produced so many exceptional
jennets for us, and we are so pleased to have them all. We have built
a large part of our breeding program around them.
I'm not sure we could have ever actually let go of him, but when we
began to get to know Bruce and Sue Taylor of Australia, we knew he had
found a forever home, and definitely the right one. We are so happy
for him, and for Bruce and Sue to have him. Congratulations to them,
and many thanks to Red October for serving us so well.
